Preserving the environment and archaeology is at the heart of BNRG Shessy
About the Project
Situated on 148 hectares across two nearby sites, BNRG Shessy has been carefully selected for its low-lying land suitable for high solar gains.

Enhanced screening
Sheltered by enhanced hedgerows and buffers, the site is strategically located near the national grid. Local topography, combined with planting and hedgerows, set back from public roads and new planting and fencing will help screen the low-lying solar array panels.
Quick build and traffic mitigation
Extensive traffic mitigation measures will be in place during the quick build which will take up to 9 months, followed by low-impact commissioning works lasting 3 to 6 months. Access to houses, farms and businesses will be maintained throughout the build.
Working with the community
We are committed to working closely with the local community at all stages of the project.
Community benefit fund
A community benefit fund will be established, likely contributing €3.2 million over 16.5 years.
Protecting the environment and heritage
Environmental, heritage and landscape conservation is at the core of BNRG Shessy.

Industry-leading expertise
By bringing together best-in-class experts to undertake extensive surveys and assessments, we ensure BNRG Shessy meets the highest standards in environmental and archaeological preservation.

Working with the community
We are committed to working closely with the local community at all stages of the project. Prior to submitting a planning application, we will host a public consultation clinic at Kinvara Community Centre on Wednesday, 18 June 2025.

Community Benefit Fund
A Community Benefit Fund will be established, likely contributing over €3.1 million over 15 years once the solar farm is operational and generating electricity.
